Bacterial endotoxins or lipopolysaccharides are toxic substances released when bacterial cells are destroyed. Ingestion of a large dose of endotoxins leads to shock and acute fever.
Most often, endotoxins enter biological samples as a result of contamination or insufficient purification of the biological product.
We propose a method for the semi-quantitative analysis of samples using the turbidimetric LAL test (Limulus Amebocyte Lysate), based on the coagulation of horseshoe crab amoebocyte lysate with endotoxins.
